Can someone who knows about telescopes look at this & give me their advice. This looks like a great telescope (5.1) goto for $159!?

It is a Meade, which is a good brand. Is it possible they made a cheapo version?? I mean if it's 5.1 and it's a Meade doesn't it mean it's a very good telescope? It does have a scratch or dent... do you think it is that that drove the price way down?

It's not that "impressive" looking or pretty, however, it is a lot cheaper than the Starseeker I was going to pluck down $389 for the same 'stats' but is a bit "prettier".

Here's the StarSeeker... both are 130mm goto's, big difference in price... am I missing something? Maybe cuz it's discontinued?

Racking my brain here... I'm not sure my son is going to take this thing outside more than 4x a year.

I read somewhere on here that the night sky is so dark because starlight has yet to reach us from alot of stars. If this is so, does this mean that eventually the night sky will be bright like it is during the day?

Night is caused by the Earth coming between the sun's focus and the outer extreme. Day and night alternate because of the axial motion of the Earth V 35, Ch 1, P 585, Bk of Cosmogeny and Prophecy.
