Venus has a heavy thick atmosphere and it does a greenhouse effect on it. Mercury hardly has an atmosphere so it cools down significantly at nighttime.

Venus is like fully globally warmed.

Venus has a surface temperature of 470ºC. It is hotter because of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere trapping the heat. Earth has as much carbon dioxide as Venus but most of the carbon dioxide on Earth has been absorbed by the oceans and then left in mineral deposits. Most of the carbon dioxide on Venus is still in the atmosphere.

Mercury One face of Mercury always faces the Sun and has a temperature of 400ºC the other side facing away from the Sun a temperature of -170ºC.

ok little buddy here's the real answer. mercury basically has no
atmosphere. so when the suns radiation hits it, then it just bounces right back into space. venus however has an atmosphere, and it is made out of carbon dioxide, therefore when
the radiation from the sun hits it, instead of bouncing off of it like
mercury it is trapped inside of venuses volatile atmosphere of
carbon dioxide thus cooking the hell of it from the inside out.
