Somewhat, I think. I think we probably mostly get our energy from the sun indirectly though. Plants use the sun's energy during the process photosynthesis, photo meaning light and synthesis meaning putting together. Plants make their own food using photosynthesis and then we eat the plants so I guess we do in a way. We also use the oxygen plants create during photosynthesis. I also did read on a web site that Vitamin D can be made in your body after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun.

Humans may possibly live off of solar power in the future when they have reached the potential to create biological mechanical beings able to sustain and maintain their existence through synthetic operation and repair. All of the natural elements will eventually become extinct and only the supernatural will be able to survive.

i'm not sure of the exact scientific terms, but there is a compound in our skin that converts to vitamin d when exposed to the sun. This makes us happier and most likely has many other uses. I think this is why we get the 'winter blues' as there is not as much sun exposure in winter.

All fossil fuels and all life is really stored solar energy. Plants require sunlight to grow, and almost all life on Earth depends on plants. We eat plants or we eat animals that eat plants. Even fossil fuel is made of long dead plants and animals.
