Hi,
I need to hand in a 1st draft of my physics coursework tomorrow. I've made and tested a couple of circuits measuring the resistance of a thermistor at different temperatures. This is for the real-life situation of a drinks machine. The problem is I don't fully understand the purpose of a thermistor in a drinks machine. If it is to measure temperature why not just use a thermometer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, apart from anything copied + pasted from wikipedia.

If I was going to buy a chemical where the size was described as 1 mCi; 37 MBq, what does this mean? How much is that in normal weight? Thanks.

I'm 90,000 miles from a distant 'virtual' planet. Call it a point. Beginning from zero, I continue to accelerate. Passing through that point I record my speed. (the mass of the planet can be anything).

I do this again while increasing my distance from this point to 110,000 miles. I record my speed at exactly 100,000 miles. (10,000 miles short of the point).

Are they the same speeds? Can someone help me to set this problem up so I know what I'm doing in the future? I'm not a great algebra student. Yes, I tried astonomy/space.

Find an equation of a parabola (in general form Ax^2 + Bx + C) with vertical axis, vertex at (2,1), and passing
through (1,3). What what is A + B?

I know that y=a(x+h)^2 + k and (h,k) is the vertex but I dont know how to find A and B and how the general form relates to the standard form (y=a(x+h)^2 + k).

Thanks
Chris

GP-B website had its update on 6th December with a diagram showing that Einstein geodetic prediction is wrong:

Einstein expectation: -6571 +- 1*
4-gyro result (1 sigma) for 85 days
(12 Dec 04 -- 4 Mar 05) -6632 +- 43

However, GP-B website withdrew the diagram sometime between 7th Dec and 8th Dec and replaced it with one that makes no such claims!

Note that if Einstein is wrong then Big Bang theory is totally wrong too! See http://einstein.stanford.edu

The arcs will either be all convex inward or all concave inward and the inscribed circle must be exactly touching all three arcs. I can get close using AutoCAD and the "trial and error" method, but it seems that there would be a formula or a drafting procedure that would make it simple, quick and accurate every time. If there are any math geniuses out there, consider this a challenge. I have not been able to solve this for a few days now.
