Good for you Brant. That's what makes you a top contributor :)

amansscientiae: being on Earth orbit is different from being on the moon.

Grayure: But the point is, if the Moon landing was a hoax, why didn't they then fake a Mars mission?

Answer: One fake at a time, otherwise people would easily suspect you

No. They, and observatories in other countries around the world, use the mirrors we left there. They're free. Open to anybody with the equipment. In fact, if there were no such mirrors, the Soviets would have ratted on us decades ago.

I stand corrected. Being wrong is not the same as being dumb.

Note, I could have just pulled my answer, but I'm going to leave it in anticipation of your answer. And maybe I'll post the question myself and see if you answer.

So, now that you have achieved that little coup, what was your point in asking the question? You already knew the answer. Now that's my question to you. Let's see if you can avoid giving an answer that is wrong *and* dumb.

Thanks for the info. Every time I find out that I'm wrong about something it means I know more than I did before.

yes, the USSR did send two probes with reflectors, they can only find one though, Lunokhod 1 has been missing since 1971. I did find it interesting that the Apollo 15 mission's reflector is used the most (about 75% of the time).

I don't use the reflectors as a reason that the US did/didn't go to the moon. I beleive we did because the conspiracy people who say we didn't don't have a valid arguement, its actually quite weak.

Yes, on Lunokhod and possibly other probes, i'm not sure.

But the point is, if the Moon landing was a hoax, why didn't they then fake a Mars mission?

Hi. Yes they do. From the web "French-built reflectors were also left on the moon by the unmanned Russian Lunakhod 2 mission. "

Cool. So we can fly to the moon and soft land mirrors.

The Russians can fly to the moon and soft land mirrors.

The Chinese just flew a probe to the moon.

The Chinese flew two people in Earth orbit.

We are flying people in Earth orbit.

The Russians are flying people in Earth orbit.

We have a giant space station in Earth orbit.

So here is my question: which law of nature (not trolling) prevents a spacecraft with people in it to fly from Earth orbit to the moon and soft land there? Which force prevents it to take off from the lunar surface?

Reality is a cruel mistress... at least for those with failing minds.

:-)

Yahoo answers really isn't the best format for a debate. I suggest you go to a regular web forum and ask this question. I can suggest two. They are linked below.

If you really believe that the landings were a hoax, and you have the courage to stand up for that belief, then I'll see you there.

Interesting interaction between asker and answerer...
That's what keeps me coming to this page!
You guys are good, and keep it up!
Great question.
(And, as an aside, Brant didn't get to be a 'Top Contributor' by being non- sensical!)

(Realizing that amansscientiea is also a 'Top Contributor'), What are you asking, guy?
Gravity would be the obvious answer to your question, but, am I sensing doubts here?
