I assume that someone has to have thought of the possibility of Martian diamonds. The planet having sources of Ti rich soil areas would lead me to believe that in the corrrect circumstances of vulcanism and geology diamonds could form there and would be a great source of revenue for the space effort to retreive them.

I live in a fairly light polluted neighborhood in Tulsa, OK. On a clear night (like tonight) I can see Andromeda as a faint smudge. I know I've seen some open clusters but I'm new to Astronomy and haven't documented findings yet (I plan to start tonight, hopefully) I do the best I can to avoid white light and let my eyes get adjusted. So, if somehting such as Andromeda is a faint smudge through my 15x70 Celestron bino's what would be a good globular I might be able to see. Right now Cassiopeia , Perseus Pegasus Triangulum and Lacerta are all constellations that are at a descent place to view from my house. Any good globulars or something other than an open cluster you can recommend trying to find. (I've already enjoyed the wonderful comet as well as Orion's nebula.) Thanks

According to this page:
http://mathworld.wolfram.com/StandardError.html

It says: "It therefore estimates the standard deviation of the sample mean based on the population mean."

So for example, if I have an entire population of 5 people, their age is {8,6,7,1,5}, then its stddev is about 2.702 and mean is 5.4

If I take random sample of size 3, maybe I will come up with {8,1,5}, then its stddev is about 3.512, mean is 4.667

As I increase the size of the sample and finally come to 5, that is, the sample is exactly equal to the entire poplution in this example. Then the standard error of the mean between [the sample] and [the entire population] should theoretically be zero.

But when I use this formula SE = σ/sqrt(n),
Since I already know the stddev of the entire population, which is 2.702 and I also know the size of the sample is now 5.
Substituting these values into the formula:
SE=2.702/sqrt(5)=1.208

The SE is not equal to zero. Why?

Thanks a lot.

Providing an air conditioner is powerful enough to cool a room well and is rated at, say 3 litres an hour of water extraction, how would the relative humidity of the room be affected? If the relative humidity, was %80 before the AC was turned on, what, roughly, would the relative humidity be a few hours after use? I know many factors are involved, not least being the make and model of the AC but I am looking for a very vague idea. Could a reduction of %40 humidity be achieved, or is %5 more likely?
