I assume that someone has to have thought of the possibility of Martian diamonds. The planet having sources of Ti rich soil areas would lead me to believe that in the corrrect circumstances of vulcanism and geology diamonds could form there and would be a great source of revenue for the space effort to retreive them.

Interesting idea ... but I agree with the other answerer that it is really unlikely to be cost effective for anyone to try to retrieve precious gems or metals from extraterrestrial sources.
On the other hand, maybe when that Mars mission finally lands there, then the astronauts can get engaged right easily.

The cost of space flight today is so high that even if the Moon (much less Mars) had diamonds freely available on the surface just waiting to be scooped up, it wouldn't be worth the cost of the flight to go and pick them up.
