there is a jogging course where they run one lap. person A ran at the rate of 120meters/minutes. person B ran at a rate of 100meters/minute. As a result, person A finished one lap 3 minutes faster than person B. How many meters are there in one lap around the jogging course?

L = length of lap
L/100 - L/120 = 3
L = 1800 m

OK. B had to run for 3 minutes longer than A at 100 meters per minute. That means B ran 300 meters after A finished.
Say they started at the same time. That means A pulled away from B at 20 meters per minute. When A finished, he was 300 meters ahead. That means A had to have run for 15 minutes to get that 300 meters ahead. At 120 meters a minute, that means he ran 1800 meters.
Double check the answer. A ran 1800 meters at 120 meters per minute, or 15 minutes. B ran 1800 meters at 100 meters per minute, or 18 minutes.
A finished 3 minutes sooner.

Person A runs 20m faster per minute. Therefore, he/she gains 20 meters every minute. If he/she has gained a total of 3 minutes at the end, they have also gained a total of 60 (3*20) meters.

im probably wrong- but person runs at a rate of 120 meters per minute, and person b at 100 meters a minute. if person a finishes 3 minutes before person b, they finished 360 meters before person b.

it might be 360 meters or 480 meters
