I know this is an odd question, but I HAVE TO KNOW!

Yes!
1. Align it center of mass just perfectly vertically. (Good luck!)
2. Hit an egg slightly to make a small indentation on the 'smaller' end and rest on it.
4. Suspend this egg in a strong magnetic field (No I'm not kidding)
5. Use a little play dough on its 'smaller' end and rest on it.

Yes. It has been rumored that eggs will only stand on their end (who knows which) on the equinox. But the explanation is hazy as to why or how this got started. People who try to balance an egg are successful on the Equinox, perhaps they just never try to balance one at other times.
It is possible to balance one on either end with a little effort.
