Yeah OK - a whale weigh station. But where do you go to weigh a pie?

A filling station. Or, see what angle the branches of a paste tree bend to when the pie is hung from it. This may be a tart reply to your question though. And there are no quiche answers rolling in.

Since whales are hard to transport, you go to where the whale is. But unless it is a small whale (or dead and cut into pieces) I think rather than weighting directly, one calculates an approximate weight from the dimensions of the whale (perhaps scaled from photographs), in which case you would go to your desk or computer.

weigh the whale first, then put the pie inside the whale, subtract the extra weight, then you have the pies weight.

no need to weigh it

1 meter cube of water is exactly 1 metric ton.

You measure the approximate volume of the whale and if it is 2 m3 then it weighs 2 tonnes!
