1. A baseball is thrown at an angles of 22degrees relative to the ground at a speed of 27.1m/s. The ball is caught 52.0 m from the thrower.
a) How long is it in the air?(I had the correct answer on this one which was 2.0695131 seconds)
b) How high is the tallest spot in the balls path?(I used the whole time it was up and then divided it in half to get 5.42820082m which was wrong)

2. A quarterback throws the football to a stationary receiver who is 26.7m down the field. The football is thrown at an initial angle of 36.5degrees to the ground.
a) At what initial speed must the quarterback throw the ball for it to reach the receiver?
b) What is the ball's highest point during its flight?
I had both wrong, but i dont see how i missed a when i used the same equations as above, but my answers were 18.2274788 and 13.2032173 respectively.

I'm building an egg catapult (well, giant slingshot, actually) and given the egg's drag coefficient, mass, launching angle, and initial velocity I'd like to be able to predict the range. More specifically, I'd like to be able to target specific ranges by adjusting the initial velocity. Been too long since I've had physics, so i need some help on this one! I know how to do it ignoring drag, but that is not an appropriate assumption in this case.....

Thanks!

I see them doing it under my birdfeeders by the pond. Sometimes the duck being chased just calmly walks away and the chaser does too and sometimes the one being chased zooms off into the air like it's scared. The chaser often looks like it is snapping at the other one, trying to bite the other's tail. Usually it's a male doing the chasing of other males, but not always. Can anyone give an explanation of this, please?

A space station shaped like a giant wheel has a radius 105 m and a moment of inertia of 5.05 x108 kgm2. A crew of 150 are living on the rim, and the station's rotation causes the crew to experience an acceleration of 1 g (Fig. P11.40). When 100 people move to the center of the station for a union meeting, the angular speed changes. What acceleration is experienced by the managers remaining at the rim? Assume that the average mass of each inhabitant is 65.0 kg.

Comet Halley moves about the Sun in an elliptical orbit, with its cloest approach to the Sun being about 0.580 AU and its greatest distance from the sun being about 35.0 AU (1 AU = the average Earth-Sun distance). If the comet's speed at its closest approach is 54.0 km/s, what is its speed when it is farthest from the Sun?
The angular momentum of the comet about the Sun is conserved b/c no torque acts on the comet. The gravitational force exerted by the sun on the comet has a moment arm of ____.

You are organizing a three-day back-country ski trip to Roger’s Pass for students in an outdoor club at St. Mary's College. You have approached two local busing companies for group cost information. The companies have presented you with their cost proposals for round-trip group travel:

Company A: $55 per person for a group of up to 40 students

Company B: $60 per person for a group of up to 25 students, with a discounted rate of $45 per person for each additional person in larger group size of between 25 and 40.

Let x denote the number of students who are considering participating in this trip. Let the function A(x) represent the total cost of the trip with company A and let B(x) represent the total cost of the trip with company B.

a)Determine the algebraic formulas for A(x) and B(x) for a domain of [0, 40].

b)For what value of x (number of students traveling) is the total cost the same for both companies?
