Name Something that you "_eat_" that doesn't get it's energy from the sun. It can only be one thing.

For example: Gum can't be one because gum is from cows and cows eat grass and grass get it's energy from the sun.

Or...: fish can't be one either because fish eat algae and algae is a plant and get's it energy from the sun.

you know what I mean????

This is a neat little trick that will always give you the last 7 digits of your phone number always! So grab your calculators!

1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number. (No area code.)
2. Multiply by 80
3. Add 1
4. Multiply by 250
5. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number.
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
7. Subtract 250.
8. Divide by 2.

Pretty cool, huh?
Explain to me algebraically how this works.

1) The director of a local preschool plans to enclose a rectangular area for a playground. One side will be the side of the building. If 60 ft. of fencing are to be used, what is the maximum area that can be enclosed?

2) What are the dimensions or a rectangle having the greatest area with a perimeter of 20 feet?

(as you can tell, those first two are pretty similar, so if you can do just one, I can probably figure out the other one.)

and 3) What is the largest value that can be obtained by multiplying two real numbers whose sum is three? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

Thanks in advance..

Paranormal activity has always been pretty recurrent around my house. We've had shadowy figures, I've heard things that no one else can hear, and wierd stuff has happened. Lately, however, its become worse. For the past week or so, there have been tappings at windows, thuds on the staircases of my house, my cats have been hissing for no reason, even my dogs are having nightmares, there have been thuds and bangs outside, and my mom and I have been hearing things. Also, there has been a sense of something prowling, I guess, outside. My little brother and sisters have had nightmares that they can't remember much about, other than they involve shadowy people, and they've also experienced the tapping and thuds. Is my house full of crazys, or do we need to call someone, because last night, someone knocked at the door and no one was outside. I'm getting pretty freaked out.

I'm having some trouble setting up the vectors needed to solve for the area of a parallelogram

The vertices are K(1,2,3) L(1,3,6) M(3,8,6) N(3,7,3)

I should be able to reduce these down to a 2x2 matrix, correct?
If so, which vectors do I need to use? Would it be something like vector LM and vector KN?

Thanks

There are 20 pencils in a box, a mixture of green, red and blue.

If there are 9 red and 5 blue how many green ones are there?

Are there any mathematicians out there who can give me the answer and how you arrived at it?

I've been working on this for several hours and it's giving me a headache.

Many thanks :-)

Yet all the other calanders and websites says US time switch is next sunday November 4, 2007. When is it really or is this all just an elaborate hoax to make me think I'm crazy? Or did my computer and calander turn brittish on me? lol

What is the internal energy change for the system if 883 joules of heat flows FROM the system into the surroundings and 365 joules of work is DONE on the system by the surroundings?

my answer was this, but the system where we submit our answers tells me that it's wrong!!

delta u = q + w
= 883 + (-365)
= 518 J

isn't that correct???
