It was white with black spotted wings and a large black breast band across it's white chest. It's most distinguishing feature was the bright red crest on it's head. It also had a long black beak that it used to forage on the ground. In flight, the underside of it's wings took on a hint of gold. There were three of them in foraging in our yard which borders a small, low grass prairie.

I've been watching birds for two years and have never seen the likes of him. My Sibley bird guide didn't have anything like it in there either. Does anyone know what type of bird this is?

On the second day, he drinks 2 oz. of the mixture and then refills the bottl ewith more rain water. On the thrid day, he drinks 3 oz. of the mixture and again refills the bottle with more water. This procedure continues until the bottl eis empty. How many ounces of water did he drink when the bottle is completely empty?

2) This time the castaway has a smaller bottle that contains only five ounce of tonic. Using the same procedure as above, on which day does he drink the most tonic?

I am writing a story and it involves dinosaurs and grad students in Paleontology and Evolutionary Biology. I have a professor character who is an adviser to both and I would like to have some options as to reasonable areas of expertise for this character. Could he be either a Paleontologist or Evolutionary Biologist himself? What about a Geologist? Anything else? The story takes place in the hills/jungles of Peru so I would like to endow the characters with practical traits useful in this environment.
