A person is chosen at random from a large population containing 50% males and 50% females.

A – event that the person is male
B – event that the person is female

Are A and B independent events? Justify your answer.

Copper powder lab?!?
We heated purified copper powder in a crucible over a hot plate (while continuosly stirring) the result, the powder turned black.

What can be the purpose of this experiment? Is this correct: To determine whether there is a chemical reaction when Copper powder is heated?

i dont want any text book anwer to this , if your going to dont bother. i want to think out of the square a bit. so could they be the some thing just different size models. like one thing people say they cant be is ones governed by electro magnetic energy and the other by gravity but too do the comparison proply you have to speed up the planets and if you spead them up say too a trillion times or how much it had to be wouldnt gravity look alot like electro magnitic energy? what i really want to know about is that speed conversion cuz i dont think people take that into account when they think about the comparison. or do they?

see i was always told that oxygen was flammable. and if you were in a 100% oxygen environment and lit a match it would all go kaboom. but now i hear that its not flammable. so i guess my question is:

if i were to somehow fill a vacuum sealed room with all oxygen, and lit a match what would happen.

Since lead is more dense than water, and the density of a substance will always be the same no matter what size, than (1)how come a very small piece of lead can float on water????
(2)Is this only because of surface tension? Or is there more?

(3) Is density the only key to whether or not a substance will float in the presence of another, or is the bouyant force totally different than just density?!?!?!?!

Well, my real question is this...I really love animals and would love to one day work with them at a zoo, wildlife preserve, or basically my desire is to work with exotic animals...I am looking into vet tech schools at the moment but of course I have been getting some negative feedback about the profession...but it seems like a vet tech school would be the first step I could take...I dont know...HELP! Any advice or anything you could share would be great!

uhhhh what? i'm have no clue how to find these equations...can someone show me step by step so that i will know how to do them later...thanks in advance!!

1. Calculate the acceleration and the tension in the rope. For your variables use "m1", "m2", "theta1", "theta2" and "g". Assume all surfaces are frictionless, and the pulley and rope are massless and frictionless.

2. Find the acceleration for each of the following machines (use the same notation conventions as the previous problems; i.e. m1, m2, theta1, theta2, g, etc.).

ahhh i hate physics!..i have never had to come up with equations myself before!!, if someone could show me how to work these problems so i can use it for future ones i would greatly appreciate it

1. Find equations for the acceleration and the tensions in the ropes. For your variables use "m1", "m2", "m3" and "g". Assume all surfaces are frictionless, and the pulley and rope are massless and frictionless. Let the left rope have tension T1 and the right rope have tension T2.

Diagram: http://www.webassign.net/userimages/48537?db=v4net

**I kinda started this one and got a=((m3-m2)*g)/(m1+m2+m3) but webassign said it was wrong!!

2. Calculate the acceleration and the tension in the rope. For your variables use "m1", "m2", "theta" and "g". Assume all surfaces are frictionless, and the pulley and rope are massless and frictionless.
