These are completely different medications.
Ritalin is usually given to people who have attention deficit disorder.
Xanax is prescribed for anxiety.

If you took them at the same time, you are basically canceling out the other one. Your doctor is the one you should discuss this with.

each is a drug that is overprescribed.

Ritalin acts like amphetamine, its 'therapeutic' activity is to increase the nerve activity of inhibitory neurons, that is to say it stimulates nerves that dampen the higher brain activity.

It rases blood pressure, so much so that the heart sometimes slows down in an effort to compensate. It is addicting, and that is a lure for young people or their parents to initiate contact with a doctor for therapy. For the doctor that wants repeat business, the addicting quality keeps them coming back for more.

Xanax is a chemical cousin of diazepam, cuts down on anxiety at the expense of memory. Mixed with other drugs or alcohol the memory imparement is increased. Not good for either job performance, driving, or for high grades.

Like I say, most people most of the time do not need this stuff, and in the long run limits their life long ability.

Ritalin is a mood elevator, anorexic and a stimulant. Xanax is a depressant and a sedative. One is nearly the opposite of the other.
