The Lake Issabella Dam is rated the unsafest in the country yet the riverbeds in Bakersfield are bone dry. Why not trickle more water down, thus easing the pressure on the Dam and making Bakersfield and it's Parks a more inviting place. I have lived her 5 yrs and only one summer was there water in the river all summer. I have heard them say that we would have water in the river from now on more than once only to see them dry once again.

I don't understand where the middle number comes from, the number times x to the first power. It looks like you're doing addition when you factor the problem, but it seems like it should be only multiplication.

Example: 2x squared + 3x + 6 = 0. Where does that 3x come from or go to, because when you factor it out, you wind up with an answer like (x + something)(x + something)? The two x's times each other makes x squared. The middle number (3x in example)...?

Thanks for the help. I'm trying to learn this (again), but I'm stuck on understanding this point.

I'd be greatful for any help on this as we need to ask them to burn something else.
