The answer is 16. Just multiply 40 times .40 and you will get the answer. Another way is knowing multiples of ten. Anything times ten, just move the decimal point to the right which adds a zero. 40 * 10 is 400. To take the percentage, just move the decimal point to the left. 40.0 * 10% is 4.00. Now take that and multiply it 4 times to get 40% of 40 which equals 16. If you need to know 5 percent just divide 4.00 by 2 since 5 is half of ten.
