Okay. First is it:
1/4 = 2 * (x/3) (the "/3" is only under the x?")
or is it
1/4 = (2x)/3 )the "/3 is under both the x and the 2)?
Regardless, all you have to do is get X by itself. Let's assume that the "/3" is under both the 2 and x.
Our first step would be to get rid of the "divided by three" to get rid of the fraction on the side with the x. How do we do that? Multiply BOTH sides by 3
3(1/4) = 2x
3 * 1/4 = 3/4 right?
so 3/4 = 2x
Now what do we have to do to get x by itself? DIVIDE both sides by 2!
x = (3/4) / 2. Dividing by 2 is the same is multiplying by 1/2+
x = (3/4) * (1/2) = 3/8
x = 3/8!
If it's the other way, then it's more confusing. I'm guessing it's the way I just described.

1/4 = 2x/3
multiply 3 for both sides
2x = 3/4
divide 2 for both sides
x = 3/8

undo of whats given also do the order of operation backward while solving the eqation
so multiply be 3 first since its divided to get rid of it
since its an equation you must do it to both side to maintain the balance
so it going to be 3/4=2x b/c after multiply by 3 on right it will cancel out
now divide by 2 since its multiplied
so 3/8=x
ur very pretty by the way

you want to isolate x to one side of the equation
1/4 = 2x/3 do you mean? (2x)/3 or 2(x/3)
if (2x)/3 then you want to multiply each side by 3 leaving:
3/4 = 2x now multiply each side by 1/2
3/8 = x
check this by plugging x back into the original equation
1/4 = 2(3/8)/3
3/4 = 6/8 ok !

Cross-Multiply... easiest way... multiply the 1 and 3; then multiply 2x with 4.
1/4=(2x)/3
: 8x=3
: x=3/8
Done!!

you do som,ething called cross multiplication.
1/4=2x/3
you multiply diagonally, so (1)(3)=(4)(2x)
3=8x
x=3/8
