I was wondering earlier, could light have left our star or planet, traveled out into space, pass very close to a heavy object, slingshot around it, and head back to Earth where we could see it? Wouldn't be like we were looking back in time?

My gearmotor runs at 9RPM, and i need to turn my wheel at that same speed (or faster) so i have 2, 10" pulleys. Right now i'm using a belt that measures 25 1/2" outside pulley to outside pulley. Once plugged in, the motor pulley turns fine but the wheel pulley starts to turn then stops as the motor continues turning. If i put a smaller pulley on the wheel, will that work better or should i get a longer belt??

For those whom "know", please forgive this simpleton Question. Do we actually know for a fact via visual magnification that atoms and protons etc. are real? Or are they Quantum theory?. And following on from this, but not related, why is Q theory so trusted?.
To me it seems as irrelevent as UFO theories. Mathematical equations in QT are all guess'. Where is the proof that QT is fact? Proof is everything, and the fact that fields medal winners can't prove their equations outside QT; to me says they are wasting time and money on fantasy.
Surely physical facts must be proved physically to be fact! I realise QT is "widely" acknowledged to be fact, but until it is actual fact, why is it so relied upon?
All arguements welcome. P.s. For ten points you will need to answer all questions.

Why are scientist looking for more mater in the universe to try and explain the big crunch.
The universe does not need any mater to contract.
As a mater of fact it would collapse a lot faster if there were no mater.
When mater decays then the universe will slow down and start to contract.
You see the universe is elastic and will revert back to its origonal state before the big bang..
After all its not gravity that made the universe it was the universe that made gravity....What do you think...?
