If I spent 27.5hours out of 40 hrs or 0.6875 of time on a project. what would be the correct fraction? I came up with 3/4 or 7/10. Help.

27.5/40 = 55/80, multiplying top and bottom by 2.
Now divide top and bottom by 5 to get 11/16.
The answer is 11/16.

Your decimal is correct, but your fractions are a bit off... 3/4 would be .75, and 7/10 would be .70, The correct fraction is 6875/10,000. Now reduce by 5 until it won't go any more...I get 11/16

simplify
divide by 25
275/400
divide again by 25
=11/16
