y-intercept occurs when your graph hits the y-axis...thats is x=0
so for example....to find the the y-int of graph y=2x-1, set x=0
y = 2(0) - 1
y= -1
y-int = -1 ... meaning your graph y=2x-1 hits the y-axis at -1 or in coordinate form (0,-1).

Well, you can find the slope of a line using this equation in a variety of forms, but here is the basic equation of a line:
y=mx+b
where y and x represent any point on the line. x = an x value, and y= a y value. For each x value, there should be only y value, and vice versa
m = the slope of the line = (y'-y")/(x'-x")
(x',y')= a point on the line (x", y")= a point on the line
b = the y intercept. the y value for which x = 0

Given 2 points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) on a line the formula for the slope is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1).
The slope represents how steep the line is. The bigger the slope the steeper the line.

do you mean y=mx+b?
the formula for slope is
y sub 2 minus y sub 1 over x sub 2 minus x sub 1
y2-y1/x2-x1
