Just because life here needs oxygen or carbon dioxide, water, a certain kind of temperature and to eat other living things for food surely doesn't mean that life on other planets requires the same.

My lawn has many holes about 1 to 2 inches in diameter. New ones appear over night. We see these toads' heads and shoulders sticking out. When they see us they back up rapidly.
There is no dirt around the hole.
What makes the holes? How to prevent them? Any knowledge & advice appreciated.
David.

A ball is projected horizontally from the top of a building. One second later another ball is projected horizontally from the same point with the same velocity. At what point in the motion will the balls be closest to each other? Will the first ball always be traveling faster than the second ball? How much time passes between the moment the first ball hits the ground and the moment the second one hits the ground? Can the horizontal projection velocity of the second ball be changed so that the balls arrive at the ground at the same time?

A rectangular activities room floor is to be constructed in a sports complex. The floor has vertices A(-4,-11), B(12,21), C(36,9), and D(20,-23)

The area is to be sectioned off into squares (as roughly shown here: http://i17.tinypic.com/6gwzlac.jpg ) Detemrine the coordinates of the endpoints of each dotted dividing line using calculations and determine the coordinates of the center of the floor.

When the conditions are just right(perfect temp, rain, all that stuff) theyll come back to life so to speak. is this true? sounds kinda weird but im not sure

I know this is a weird question, but I read it somewhere in a book and wanted to know if anyone else wondered or heard this also.

This Big Bang instance is similar to an ejaculation where many sperms try to reach an egg in space to fertilize with, just as many planets are trying to reach a sun to orbit around and to provide life on its planet. Or it could be that hot matter from the big bang, such as stars scatter throughout space and eventually reach a certain spot where they meet with planets that then fall into orbits around the star.

It is similar to the saying that "As Above, So Below" and also shows how the laws of probability work in Nature.
