If so, is there a special camera setting?

Yes Dr D. We went to Niagra fall not too long ago and we took beautiful pictures of the falls and the wonderful rainbow against the falls background. My camera is an ordinary digital camera.
You reminded me of when I was a girl in high school. My physics teacher told us you cannot take a picture of a reflection in the mirror because it is not real. Not convinced, I took my camera and photographed images in the mirror, and sure enough, they turned up in the photo. I later understood the meaning of virtual.

Yes, you can take a picture of a rainbow, as long as it is good and has solid colors. And as far as I know the isn't a special setting on a camera.

Sure! I used to live near Seattle, Washington where rain and sunshine at the same time is common. I used to always take pictures of the rainbows. I just used my digital cannon camera.

I would imagine that you can, there are pictures of rainbows all over the place. Not sure of the setting though. Do you think that film would be better than for digital? That would be another good question.

Absolutely -- I've done it many times. Generally, no special camera setting is necessary.

Yes you can. It is only light. You do not need to do a special setting.

Yes, you can -- and no, there is no special setting. Some filters MAY help, but even a regular point and shoot can get a pretty nice shot. I do it all the time!

I've always just done the "point & click" method and it works fine. I'm sure in developing or now in photo shop you can saturate the colors more for a more vibrate image like you'd see on a calendar or whatever. Those images are almost always color enhanced so same thing.
