I've got the monthly standard deviation for a portfolio of stocks and I need the yearly value. Is it 'statistically allowed' to just multiply the monthly value by 12? For example:
monthly standard deviation = 5,
hence, yearly standard deviation = 60.
If not, how can I get the yearly standard deviation from the monthly value?
(I cannot recalculate because I do not have the source data).

I have an object which is 80 degrees centigrade, with the ambient air around it being 26.667 degrees centigrade, the air will be blown directly on the object at a tempureture of 21.111 degrees centigrade. Does anyone know approx. how many CFMs pumped in at those tempatures will be required to cool the 80 degrees centigrade down to approx. 60 degrees centigrade? Or does someone have a formula to figure it out? If you have a formula that is correct or gives a close aproximate but needs more info. I can fill in anything else just provide the formula please.

I want to ask this in a neutral context and get some less biased answers than I have been getting. I guess there are two questions that I have here.

1. How do you view evolution, as a fact or as theory? In school, we're taught about evolution, but the way it's taught, it can be easy to assume it's fact. However, it still has holes in it, things that can't be explained, and it can't be proven completely true or false, so it's a theory. So, why is it taught in a way that we assume it is fact? (Note that I'm focusing on macroevolution here, microevolution is a different topic.)

2. Are there any legitimate theories out there right now about the origin of life? As far as I understand, there have been some proposed theories that have been rejected by the scientific community. I also know about the Miller experiment, but that was also rejected because it was skewed to create favorable results. Is there any theory out there right now that is considered plausible by scientists?

Please don't say that this is a stupid question or something becasue I jsut really want to know. Every night when I look out the window at about 10:30 I see the same star. I know it is the same one because it is the brightest one and it looks like the only one there. So like some days it goes to the right and then it's out of view (unless you go outside) and then it goes to the left until it goes out of view (again, unless you go outside) and then it goes to the right and then to the left and so on. I wondered, why does it do this? Just curious.

Hello there, I have been doing a thing called enthalpy - I am good at it but there is a problem: I don't know how to do this one question!

"A polystyrene cup containes 50cm3 of water at 21.2*C.

2.53 g of of powdered ammonium chloride (NH4CL) was added and dissolved with stirring.

Calculate the lowest temperature which the solution should reach given that the enthalpy of solution of NH4CL is +15 KJ mol-1."

I know the answer is 17.8*C. BUT I don't know how to do the sum.

Can you help please help?

Just show me the how you worked it out.
