Not in the sense you're thinking of. The universe isn't a collection of stars and planets spread over some arbitrarily large space so that you might be able to talk about going pat the furthest matter in the universe. The space-time that we use to define the universe is a curved boundary in 5-dimensional space. There is nothing beyond that boundry that make sense to talk about. If you head out in one direction and travel a very long time, you'll end up back at your starting point. So you can't get to the end of the universe - you're already there.

An easier visualization of this is to imagine you live on teh surface of a balloon and you know nothing about the dimension perpendicular (at you location) to that surface. If you start walking on the balloon in any direction, you end up back at the same place. Now, our universe appears to be expanding so imaging doing your walk on the balloon while it is being inflated. You stillend up back where you started, it just takes longer. And you can't really talk about an end to the surface you live on.

Why has it got to end somewhere?
The Earth doesn't end, does it? Think about when you look at the horizon - no matter how much you try to get to it, it is always there, and eventually you get back to where you started, but you still see the horizon. The same can be said for all the other planets and stars in the universe, so why can't the universe itself be similar?

It is argued that the universe may be flat, but so is a ruler. If you had a ruler that stretched around the entire Earth, it would at every point be flat and straight, but it would still meet back on itself...
I believe that if you went into space, no matter what direction you travelled in, you would eventually get back to your point of origin.

The big question is, just like we can get off Earth and see what's outside... what is outside the universe?

I agree with u, it´s gotta end somewhere ... but I don´t know. i have asked my philosophy lecturers, all they can say is that there is no end of it. I mean, if u have reached the "finish" u r actually standing on the "start". In other words, u are back where u have it started.
I don´t buy this idea, though. There must be an end. Every matery needs a space, that´s my believe.

I don't think a human can answer that question

not one human i believe can comprehend it.

there... isn't an end.. or. if you think about it

if there is an end. then it must be in something else. or. whatever.

as if we were in a box, and we had to find the end, we would just find something else.

humans can't comprehend it

I actually keep an open mind, but the thing i think might be true is that we are basically just a cell in something elses body, like the cells in our body are actually places like the world

its, probably easier to comprehend if you knew exactly what i was saying than there is an end to the universe.

but yeah, i dont think that there is an end.

Hi Rach. Good news, next week I'm going to set off on a trek to find out just what you want to know. If I decide to come back I will be sure to look you up and let you know what I have found.
Better still, you could come along and keep me company, it's a cold, dark journey to the end of the universe and your companionship would be appreciated. So just hike up your skirt and climb aboard my intergalactic spaceship, sit down and buckle yourself in, the countdown will start on Tuesday morning.
Oh yeah, bring your bathing suit in case we run into some meteor showers.

There is no end, it's infinite. You just keep going forever. By the way you wouldn't end up back where you started as modern cosmology has shown that the universe is not closed, it is flat, sorry guys.
