cAMP means cyclic AMP. AMP stands for Adenosine mono Phosphate. With one phosphate group attached it is a cyclic compound means a closed structure. When two other phosphate groups attach to it, it becomes ATP, which stands for Adenosine tri phosphate. ATP molecule is the source of energy in a living cell. Refer to cell bilogy book for more detailed explanation.
