I recommend BEAM. Build a photovore, and you can do it with 2 motors and 2 photoresistors for main electronic parts. You don't need any fancy programming or microcomputers.

There are plenty of cheap kits and plans out there to build with toy stores even have them. Free tutorials. Ya can learn AIML and download free AI at pandorabots.org. Alicebot.org..
