since the force on a body on the surface of the earth is f=(m2*g)/d^2 and the force varies with the distance from the center of the earth ,our weight at different latitudes should vary with the least at the equator and the maximum at the poles since the earth is slightly flattened at ther poles, what is this variation?

Besides the four main factors that effect rate of reaction (surface area, concentration, temperature and the use of a catalyst), do mass [of a substance such as marble chips] or volume [of an acid such as hydrochloric acid] effect rate of reaction, and if so why? If not, why also?

Hi All,
Why is the derivative of the following
A(x)=(1-a/n+xa/n)^n
this
A'(x)=a(1-a/n+xa/n)^n-1
I am unsure about the differentiation of the terms inside the bracket. If this bracket was expanded surely there would be lots of terms with x in.
I understand where the a comes from, but not really why. the n comes down and is then cancelled out by the a/n.
