Composed of pure carbon, naturally mined diamonds have an isometric crystal structure, the most common being octahedron. There are both industrial and gem diamonds. They are made by subjecting graphite to very high temperatures and pressures in the presence of a metal catalyst.

Carbon has 2 allotropes ie the same element having 2 different structural arrangements and they are daimond and graphite.
Hence both are made of carbon and is so called . The 2 different names is just to show that they are a little different from each other in some way, but in general its carbon.

It is Carbon as is Graphite. Diamond has no molecular formula, because the network of carbons depends on the size of the diamond. C60 is the bucky ball and it has a rigid molecular structure.

It is just carbon that is very old and compressed. It is the way the crystals are formed that make it special. Each carbon atom is bonded to 4 others, It's atomic no is 6. C6, don't think it has another chemical name.

in fact diamond is carbon, it is a C60 meaning that a molecule of diamond is made of 60 carbon atoms.
Ironically graphite present in pencils is also a C60, yet the difference in arrangement of the carbon atoms gives the two molecules atotally different physical properties.
