I don't pretend to copy the information, but i need to know a bit more, as I want it to turn into a really good work ;) and i thought you could help me....

I'm sorry for my english, but it's the best I can do as a portuguese girl :)

I am teaching myself maths and am attempting some exam questions in the book, I have managed all the others but this one has stumped me. So here goes

.

It says, Explaining each step claearly express

By the way, all logs are to the base 2

so Log(8 * 3^1/2) - 1/3log9/16

Express in the form p + qlog3 where p and q are rational numbers to be found.

I know the laws of logs, but if you could show each step that would be great.
The answer in the back is 13/3 - 1/6log3

Happy new year everyone too

I am confused by an equation where I believe the second moment is listed as E[A^2] (A squared). Is this the second moment of a function? I thought the second moment was the E{[X - E(X)]^2}.

surely we would only detect a red shift in one direction only (and possibly a 'blue shift' in the opposite direction), unless planet Earth is at the centre of the thing, in which case a star in ANY direction would appear red shifted? This 'big bang' thing sounds like trying to fit into a framework of words, something that is not so easily comprehensible?

At school the prof. could easily tell the origin of life. But why can't he/she show it at lab work? And if a mindless state could accomplish CREATING such spectacular grandeur -LIFE, how much more a flotilla of SECULAR scientists, funded by hundred million dollars, could do? Yeah, why not create life and silence the opposition.

Given the increasing global need for water and man's ability to achieve incredibly complex scientific endeavours why is it so difficult to remove salt from water? After all nature does it all the time and we are able to treat human sewage and create potable water!
Thank you.
