good q. i understand why rain drops. it looks like drops. but snow doesnt fall. it drifts. the only reason i think snow falls instead of drops is because it sounds nicer. think about it. snow drops. sounds fast to me. but then again the word falls sounds fast too. i'd say that snow drifts. or descends. or even leaks. just cuz it sounds softer. but really it all falls. rain falls. snow falls, hail falls. media just places "snow falls" cuz its easier. plus snow sometimes comes down pretty hard, like its falling. in the end i like catipilliars.

Rain drops because of two reasons..its heavier and thats the sound it makes when falling to the earth.
Snow falls because it is lighter and more grace ful
also it is because most people believe rain is worst than snow so Falls sounds better than drops

Excuse me, but I think you are a little confused. Rain doesn't 'drop', but falls, just as snow does. Replace the word 'falls' in your question by 'flakes' and you may understand.

Rain is heavier so they drop to the ground with a thud. Snow is light and whimsies around in the air before landing, so it gently falls.
It's a weight thing.

Rain is heavier than snow so the wind makes the snow flakes float.

Rain splats on landing. Snow gently settles to the ground.

There are holes in the sky that let the rain in,
They're ever so small, that's why rain is thin!
