1. Write 3 log (x+2) + log 8x - 2 log (x+8) as a single logarithm.
(all of them to the base 2)

2. A certain kind of bacteria doubles every three days. If initially there are 100 bacteria, about how many will there be after 2 days?

3. What is the range of y= 3^x + 4 ?

I don't really know how to put down the next problems, because they have a symbol in them and I don't know what it is (our class hasn't reached this far yet). Google isn't helping much either. The symbol that I'm talking about looks like a zero with a horizontal bar at the middle. I'm just going to denote its presence by (symbol).

4. If sin (symbol) = 3/8 in Q1, what is cos (symbol) ?

5. Write in terms of sine and cosine (1-tan^2 (symbol) ) / (1+tan^2 (symbol) ).

6. If 0 greater than or equal to (symbol) less than or equal to 360 degrees, solve for (symbol) in 2cos^2(symbol) = 1 + sin (symbol).

How can I test for a normal distribution in MATLAB?

1. If 3x-y=9 and {x| -6 greater than or equal to x less than or equal to 7} what is the range of y?

2. What is the range of the quadratic function y= 2x^2 - 6x - 7 ?

3. Find the product of 3 consecutive whole numbers if the largest is n+1.

4. If P(x)= x^4 - x^3 - 5x^2 + 9x - 1 and D(x)= x^2 - 2x + 3, and P(x) is written in the form P(x) = D(x)Q(x) + R(x), what is R(x)?

5. Find the set of possible rational roots of 3x^4 - 4x^3 + 7x - 6.

6. Find all the roots of 2x^3 - 5x^2 - x + 6 = 0.

7. Find the area of the triangle formed by the x-axis, y-axis and the straight line 3x+2y-12=0.

8. An object moves 64cm in the first second, 48cm in the 2nd, 36cm in the 3rd and so on. Find the total distance it will move by the time it stops.

I noticed a strange light, can you identify it for me?

I was looking outside from my house, being the little astronomer I am, I quickly noticed an odd object. It was about as big as Jupiter (in the night sky of course) and it was flashing from blue to red to blue to red...

Curious, I got my telescope and went to check it out (note this is INSIDE my house, I'm looking at it with my telescope through a window) I saw it looked something like a flying saucer (I don't beleive in the UFO crap, even seeing that won't change my mind)

I used 2 different lenses, they both were fuzzy and only produced the same image. This drawing is a certaint focus point where I saw the thing take it's saucer shape. Do you know what it is?

EMF vs terminal voltage?

explain why the terminal voltage is smaller than EMF?

because EMF is eletromotive force,equals the total amount of energy gained per unit charge when there is no current.however if there is current.some energy is lost across the internal resistance.with less energy dissipated across the terminal circuit.there would be less energy per columb charge thus corresponds to a lower terminal voltage.
