okay i know this is the stupidest question ever. but some people i know tend to beleive that it does exist. they are very serious on the subject and deeply beleive that it is possible to travel to anytime in the history or future.

i have tried explaining to them that it is not but they still are too hard headed to let go of their childish beleifs. so i am asking you smart people to intelligently explain to this said person why time travel is not possible. this person beleives deeply that you can go back in time and converse with dead people or go to things that no longer exist i.e buildings. and go to the future and see things yet to be created. i am just asking for a little help.

you if you could provide me with facts and statements that could explain and make even the most hard headed people realize it is not possible to travel in time.

and if you are a person who does beleive in time travel then please feel free to share with me your ideas on time travel.

Please provide solutions for the above.

Another question:

A flagpole stands on top of a building. The angle of elevation of the foot of the pole 30m from the foot of the building is 60 degrees and 80m farther, the top of the pole has an elevation of 30 degrees. How high is the pole?

Please provide solutions. Someone answered (on the 2nd question), "Let H be the height of the building and h the height of the pole. The equations are

H= 30 tan 60 degrees
(H+h)=110 tan 30 degrees

I don't know anything about those. Please help and thank you.

An oil storage tank has one side sloping at 60 degrees to the horizontal. A circular opening of diameter 300mm is cut into the side of the tank and is covered by a plate bolted into place. The level of oil in the tank is 1.2m above the top of the opening find:
a)the force acting on the plate
b)the depth of the center if pressure for the plate below the surface of the oil

Oil has a density of 0.9
k value is D/4

I have my answer at 0.841 and 1.37 but believe this to be wrong and the correct answers are 0.83 KN and 1.33 metres.How do I do this correctly???

This isnt my homework....im just studying for an exam and using old questions with given answers so any help would be really appreciated

I heard that light can't travel faster than the spead of light. But its intersting to me that You can have a fly in your car on your dash board going 70 miles an hour then it can fly around in the air in your car at its normal speed. In fact the fly is traveling at 70 miles per hour plus its normal flight. If i stood on a car going at 70 miles per hour and applied enough energy and ran off the car or jumped or what ever I would be traveling at 70 plus the speed I was going to get off the car. Light is not outside of these rules however we are told light is constant. I don't believe that. of course we can't prove this as it is but I think that The light would be traveling then at 2 times the speed of light. it only makes sense to me. of course i do not have a degree in physics. If your behind an object moving at the same speed of light about 10 feet in front of you, would the lights light up on the object?
