I think you mean Persian Gulf (since this is the geography forum).

Take a look at a map of the middle east. South of Iraq, you'll see a gulf. That is the Persian Gulf. Iraq invaded Kuwait (I don't know when) to obtain access to this gulf because it's ideal for shipping stuff.

I beg to differ with the first answer. Persian Golf is played on courses made of sand. The bunkers are very thick patches of grass, watered and fed daily and allowed to grow to at least 1' tall

in Persian golf there is only fifteen holes
that is because for approximately every six holes they create, they hit oil and it makes THAT one totally unusable !!!

18 holes just like everyone else, but watch out for the sandtraps. I hear their massive.
