Ok, December 22nd is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Wouldn't it make sense for winter solstice to mark the dead of winter, which seems to occur sometime in February? Winter proper has just begun. Don't the seasons depend on how much sunlight is reaching the earth?

if 12 shirts cost $117 how much will 9 shirts cost?

ok, i did

117 / 12 = 9.75

so i multiplied 9.75 by 12 and got 117.

so now i took 9.75 and times it by 6 and got 58.5

so i think the shirts cost $58.00 if 9 shirts were bought?

Some people say this can be accomplished by using laws of cosines. I'd like to see the answer using any means possible.

Given a triangle (abc) with all angles (ABC) acute. A line is drawn from each angle to perpendicular of the opposite side. (You end up with 6 overlapping right triangles). If the distances for the perpendicular lines from each angle to each side opposite are given, can you find the perimeter (a+b+c)?

Does the following have a solution - can it be done? No need to do it, just wondering if it can be done or not.

If the distances for the perpendicular lines from each angle to each side opposite are given, can you find the perimeter (a+b+c)?

I know this may sound like a stupid question but my friends and I spent some time talking about this tonight in the pub... yes we was a bit boozed up during our Christmas drink... but if they don't have eyelids, how do they keep the dust out of their eyes? Oh, Merry Christmas everyone.
