To solve to get X by Elimination you would get 2.5 however I can not get this value by Subsitution. Where am I going wrong?

2x+3y=8
2x-3y=2

y=(2x+8)/3

2x-3(2x+8)/3 = 2

2x-3(2x+8) = 6

2x-6x+24=6

-4x=-18

x=4.5

ok i don't expect that many answers here as no one is gonna want to do my homework for me, but here goes:


2 trains leave a destination, one 3 hours before the other. the one which leaves first goes at 35kilometres an hour and the other, at 50 km/hour. they are both going to the same place. at what distance from the place where they left will they meet.

the answer is 350km, but how do i reach that conclusion?

I have noticed many of you on here take it apon yourselves to answer questions you dont know the correct answer for. One is " Is Adamant real". Most of you would answer no, the only problem is the worlds leading scientists can't answer that question. So what makes you'll feel up to the challenge? What if Adamant is real you'll feel pretty stupid then huh. Well I happen to know the answer to this question but your not finding out anytime soon.
