They didn't want to waste film on something boring that would take an unknown amount of time to do.
By the time the buggies were introduced going to the moon was sort of a ho-hum thing for the public, the emphasis on documenting the act had taken a back seat to scientific examination of the lunar surface. The buggies were a means of extending the astronauts range for geological sampling.
It wasn't the age of youtube, they didn't walk around with a camera in hand looking for cewl stuff to film.

Maybe its hard to believe....but what if the moon buggie never was on the moon? Its funny that they lost the original footage from Apollo mission...hm?
