if they are not filled in, it means that they have sworn to kill someone. It gets filled in when they have killed that person.
It started out as a gypsy thing that was adapted by prosoners, and now it would appear that rappers have adapted them. Who knows what they mean by them

It means you served some time in jail and during that time you beat someone up. You can also get them for being in a jail gang

well...i was told that if it is a hollow tear then they have only served up to five years in prison...but if it is a solid tear then it's more...its just a way to show how long they have been in prison...i hope this helped! merry christmas!

Most people that have them, from what i remember back in chicago, is that they have them to count how many people they've shot/killed.
Don't know if this has changed since.

depends on where you are from. when i lived Montana it meant you did prison time (hard time) and every tear drop meant the number of years you served.
