Okay, energy excites electrons... their energy level increases, so they move further away from the nucleus of the atom (protons and neutrons) - but when the energy excites them, how does it move to a new, further away, atomic orbital? does it all of the sudden "bounce" to the next sub-energy/primary enegy level? Does it slowly move? HELP!

I tried to use the tangent but it kept on iving me 26.4 or something like that and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong even though this simple trigonometry is usually pretty easy for me.
