I'm doing a report for my earth science class and I need to know who found it and when. If anyone knows, it'd help a lot. Thanks.

Two snowy peaks are h = 850 m and 750 m above the valley below. A ski run extends down from the top of
the higher peak and then back up to the top of the lower one, with a total length of 3 km and an average slope
of 30°. A skier starts from rest on the higher peak. If the snow is slick so that friction may be neglected, at
what speed will he arrive at the top of the lower peak if he just coasts without using his poles?

We just did a lab in biology on chromatography. We used a collard green plant.

The band of colors I got were

1. Dark Green
2. Yellow Green
3. Bright Greem
4. Faint Yellow
5. Bright Yellow

I'm pretty sure bands 1 and 2 are chlorophyll a and chlorphyll b respectively, but I'm not sure what bands 3-5 are. They are supposed to be xanthrophyll and carotenoids, but there is no orange to be found. I thought that was the color these bands were supposed to be... So what are bands 3-5?

And from least to greatest which bands would be the longest? I found a chromatography picture on the internet http://regentsprep.org/Regents/biology/units/homeostasis/chromatography.jpg, and it has chlorophyll a longer than b, but my results were vice versa. Thanks in advance for your help.

oh, and do you think the reason I didn't have orange band colors is because I used collard greens and for some reason they may have less carotenoids then other plants?

I was assigned this question for homework and got it wrong. How do I answer it?

A projectile is fired with initial velocity of v(subscript 0) feet per second. The projectile can be pictures as being fired from the origin into the first quadrant, making an angle theta with the positive x-axis. If there is no air resistance, then at t seconds the coordinates of the projectile (in feet) are x=v(subscript 0)tcos(theta) and y= -16t(squared)+v(subscript 0)tsin(theta). Suppose a projective leaves the gun at 100 ft/sec and theta=60 degrees.
A. What are the coordinates of the projectile at time t=4 seconds?
B. For how many seconds is the projectile in the air?
C. How far from the gun does the projectile land?
d. What is the maximu height attained by the projectile:
e. Find an expression in terms of v(subscript 0) and theta for the time in the air.
f. Find an expression in terms of v (subscript 0) and theta for the distance from the gun.

I know of the dangers of this but i would like to try this out as an expiriment without spending much money or time in the process of creating a still. Thanks for any help!

Best answers: Determining a Spring force?
A massless spring is between a 1-kg mass and a 3-kg ,mass, but is not attached to either mass. Both masses are on a horizontal frictionless table. In an experiment, the 1kg mass is held in place and the spring is compressed by pushing on the 3-kg mass. The 3kg mass is released and moves off with a speeed of 10 meters per second.

How do I determine teh final velocity of each mass relative to the table after the masses are released?

With the end of daylight saving time in the United States (and elsewhere), my atomic clocks reset themselves back to standard time. My question is does the clock do this because of some programming in the clock itself, or is it because of the signal broadcast by NIST? The reason that I'm wondering is because the start and end dates for daylight saving time will change beginning next year, and I'm wondering if the atomic clocks will give the right time unadjusted.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
