I understand everything about redox equations like oxidation and reduction how to balance them. Balance the electrons and balance them in acidic and basic solution. But how do you identify spectator ions? Like I know that when an element such as Na is attached to dichromate =
Na2Cr2O7 -2 we must eliminate the Na. I know this but how about this problem:
AuCl3 + NaI > Au + I2 + NaCl

my teacher eliminated all Cl and Na
so AU + I > Au + I2 (why??? eliminate Na and Cl is it because they dont change oxidation states in the reaction???)

why does this occur? ANY help please would be great.

The radiator in your car uses either water or ethylene glycol (anti-freeze) to remove heat from the engine and dissipate it to the outside air. If the water recirculation rate is 20.0 kg per minute and the water temperature leaving the engine and entering the radiator is 98.0 C and the temperature of the water leaving the radiator and entering the engine is 45.0 C

I've got access to some pretty high-tech equipment, and was wondering if electrically charged plasma gas combined with a photon pulse laser could create a real life lightsaber? Any other suggestions on how to create a lightsaber?

If the earth at its equator is moving at about 1,000 miles per hour,
(25,000 miles/24 hours) and progressively slower away from the equator, how is it that clouds can keep up and move right along with (or even surpass) the speed the surface below is moving. (For example, cold fronts in North America generally move from the northwest to the southeast, and clouds can make it in just a few days. Why do they even move s.e. at all? Wouldn't the surface just "run off" and leave them, so that clouds always would move west?
