I understand that the universe is expanding due to the forces caused by the "big bang" but what is it expanding into? If by "universe" we mean the outer limits of a circle drawn around the furthest objects in "space" (is this what we mean??) is there anything beyond these objects that they are moving out into, and if so...is there an outer limit to this material creating a maximum area in which to expand?

Friction is limited by coefficient of friction and 'normal reaction' to weight. If this is so... increasing surface area does nothing for friction. It may be to do with stability or heat dissipation or even wear.
