Today in my nervous systems class we were talking about the cranial nerves. My professor said that only ANS nerves have ganglia in the PNS, and all sensory and somatic motor nerves synapse within the CNS. When we were looking at the vestibulcochlear nerve (cranial nerve 9) I noticed in the diagram the vestibular ganglia appeared to be in the PNS, but since this is a sensory only nerve, the ganglia should be in the CNS. I asked my professor about it after class, and he said it was a good question and that I should research it. I was wondering if anyone here has taken a neurobiology class and can help me out. Thanks in advance.

I love the South...live there! Born and raised here, and plan to die here (but that's in another 70+ years.) I'm reppin' the Lone Star State of TEXAS!!!

My top picks are all of them, except VA, FL, and KY.

Each state in the South has its own character: Texas has more of a western can-do-will-do spirit; Arkansas has hot springs; Louisiana has Cajun culture and gumbo; Mississippi has gorgeous piney woods; Tennessee, country music; Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas have beaches and mountains; Kentucky has the bluegrass and horse farms; Virginia is packed with history; Oklahoma is a lot like Texas, except smaller. Florida is basically Cuba north.

Not to mention, the food, hospitality, neighborly people, and great climate make this the best region in which to live. However, VA and FL have too many yankee transplants, and are really boring outside the major tourist areas. I used to live in KY and did not find the people helpful or neighborly at all, and its winters are cold!

A migrating elephant herd started moving at the rate of 6 mph. One elephant stood still and was left behind. Then the stray elephant sensed danger and began running at a rate of 10mph to reach the herd. The stray caught up in 5 minutes.
1) how long in hours did the stray run to catch up
2) how far did it run
3) find the distance that the herd traveled while the stray ran to catch up. Then write an expression for the total distance the herd traveled. Let x represent the distance in miles while the elephant stood still

Alrighty, here's the question:

Stephan's grandfather told him about a terrible year when the cicadas were so numerous that they ate all the crops on his farm. Stephan conjectured that both 13-year and 17-year locusts came out that year. Assume Stephan's conjecture was correct.

A. How many years pass between the years when both 13-year and 17-year locusts are out at the same time? Explain how you got your answer.

B. Suppose there were 12-year locusts, 14-year locusts, and 16-year locusts, and they all came out this year. How many years will it be before they all come out together again? Explain how you got your answer.

Ok.... i^2 = -1, so I rule that i = -1^.5. So, i^2 = -1^.5 * -1^.5 should equal -1, being i squared. But, I can simplify that to i^2 = (-1*-1)^.5, and then to i^2 = 1^.5, which simplifies to i^2 = 1, and i = 1.
