Sometimes I see it written as 1s 2s 2p 3s 3p.. and sometimes as 1s 2s 2px 2py 2pz 3s... What is the difference and what are the x y and z for? Which one is correct? And what would come next in the second arrangement? ( 2py 2pz 3s....?) Thanx

at the end of my H.S math class today our teacher asked the class if they could solve this problem. (this is not my homework)

you have 4 numbers: 7, 7, 3, 3. What can you do with these numbers to get 24 and you cant use exponents. And trust me there is an answer.

As we all know A-bombs and Hydrogen bombs are mighty powerfull and if you could harness all that energy gradually, you could power a lot of homes, would there be any feasable way of harnessing that energy by exploding the nuclear bomb inside a huge spherical container hence heating it for a very very long time, if the sphere was big enough and heatproof enough i dont think you would need to be worried about the radiation. How big and strong would the sphere need to be?

I've done a little biology so I have my own view and thoughts on this. But since science can't answer this basic question, what do you all think?

For me, memories are science. When we see something an electrical impulse is generated in our eyes and takes a neural pathway in a brains where somewhere it is interpretted as an image. Now close your eyes and imagine that image. You can see it right, it's not as clear but you can see it. So what's happening? Somewhere in your brain an electrical signal is being generated which is similar to that from your eye? But how does it know how to generate that signal. Where is that information stored, and how? This question is really deep. Think of a cat, and you see a little image. But how did your brain know where to start? How did it know how to emulate that image, and not only that, make the cat orange or black, and you see more images. It's incredible and I have no clue what the hell is going on,,,,,

When asked this question, Richard Feynman replied that he has doctor's order not to discuss it.

So, no heart troble intended here, you can be as casual as you like -- Yahoo Answer is not a heavy weight discussion forum!

If NASA ever decide to have a manned mission to the Moon or Mars what evidence do you ask to show that it was not being staged managed in a film studio or on some other location ? ? Because one thing is sure - next time such a propaganda feat is attempted those astronauts must (if the mission is real) overcome the radiation of the Van Allen belt and there can be no dodgy pictures with secondary light sources suggesting a fake. This time we need to see exactly how astronaut air conditioning works on the lunar surface in their craft and in their suits (a place where temperatures are several hundred degrees for many hours each day). So what real test would show the genuineness of such a mission ?

I mean couldn't we just get by through trading one thing for another thing? It just seems like an obstacle that gets in the way of getting what you want.
