Cross pollination always happens, that's how most flowers reproduce. Some self pollinate, but cross pollination helps to make the genetic code more diverse.

If you're talking about making hybrids between two different species, then that isn't possible...unless you have some really advanced scientific equipment, a lot of money, and some really good scientists. Even then, it may never happen.

Mutation is spontaneous and unpredictable and also quite rare between normal healthy individuals.

To cross pollinate, put the two or more different species of flower in the same room and open up a jar of honey bees...

You cannot mutate a flower. Mutation occurs in genes and DNA. But you can cross pollinate it. Infact cross pollination is the usual method of a flower's reproduction (pollen grains from one flower and ovaries of the other).

There are some rather toxic chemicals (colchicine, I believe) that orchid seeds can be treated with. The goal is to essentially double the number of chromosomes, to get a tetraploid plant. Tetraploids (4N) are often bigger and more vigorous plants, with larger blooms, but they are hard to breed with, and there's no guarantee that the treatment will make them true tetraploid, instead of just a mutant.

Oh, you asked for simple... Sorry!

Good God. Don't hurt the plants! Read a book, instead.
