Fighter aircraft flying at Mach 2 or 3 can not fire their guns as hey are travelling faster than the bullets. So, how come, when I drop something on a passenger plae, it does not fall to te back of the plane, away from me, if I am travellin at great velocity?!

Here is the link from a few days ago, before yesterday's preliminary vote (which passed Xena, Charon, and Ceres as planets) at the International Astronomical Union (IAU) General Assembly in Prague. However, there is one more vote to go, on the 25th, for the new planets to pass and be called planets.

Incidentally, in the 1800s, Ceres was actually already being called a planet. But when it was later discovered that it was part of the Asteroid Belt, it was demoted to "asteroid." Ceres is bright enough in the sky to be seen with binoculars from Earth.

Basically the IAU is saying that any object in the solar system that is revolving about the Sun and is at least 500 miles in diameter can be called a planet. It also must be round. (Objects start becoming round because of their own gravity pull when they are around 250-500 miles in diameter. But the IAU wants the cutoff diameter to be 500 miles.

However, the problem with making Xena, Charon, and Ceres planets is that there are...

When talking about non-Terran intelligent life, why do so many people talk about life from other galaxies? Don't they realize just how many stars our galaxy has? Don't they realize just how far away the next galactic cluster is? Just the distance from our galaxy to one of it's sattelite galaxies is pretty darn far.

Imagine that we humans traveling in space someday in the future came across a planet inhabited by intellegent beings (but still early in technological advances). There is no need to go there but out of curiosity we study them and their planet. But what would YOU do...would you...

A) Share techonolgy with them.
or
B) Let them evolve until they are ready to know us.
or
C) None of the above (what would you do if this answer)

If we accept the BigBang theory, during such a huge explosion, if matter travels in all the direction homogeneously. Then what ever was at the core should have remained there isn't it?

So as per BigBang theory, does it say any thing about what was left at the center of this explosion? and has it been observed?

We know that two objects in space are attracted towards each other due to gravitation.

Then why does the earth revolve around the sun instead of colliding into the sun?

I am constantly reading about people who have accelerated brain capabilities and can do insane things. For one savants. Granted, their other functions go down like motor skills, but their brain has the capability to memorize entire libraries of novels. What if we had the potential of savants without the drawbacks. Would our bodies and mind have limits? What other boundries would we be able to push?
