I was in a surplus shop with all kinds of inductors, coils, chokes, transformers, etc The variety of these devices is amazing.

How are these devices designed? How are they measured?
How do the turns/radius/core determine the inductance?

They are such basic devices, but I have never seen a standard multimeter capable of measuring it. Why?

Just curious how I would know how to measure and design them from scratch?

Thanks for any creative answers.

I'm done with earth men, I would like to try aliens from another planet. I have a theory that they would be better in the sack too. Any ideas of where to go? Is Area 51 still around?

Did you find the implications of quantum physics disturbing? Did learning about quantum physics cause a paradigm shift in your worldview? Why or why not?

Given a circle with a radius of "a", what is the smallest area of an isosceles triangle circumscribed on the circle (circle inside of triangle)? The area of the triangle will always be larger than that of the circle. I need to know HOW to do this. I can then figure the answer on my own. I tried using an angle in the open interval from 0 to pi/2. I figured the side lengths of the triangle in terms of the angle and came up with a function. The function didn't match my logic. Logically speaking, the area of the triangle will never approach 0 unless "a" approaches 0. The function arbitrarily approached 0 as the angle approached pi/2. Please help. I need this by Wednesday. Thanks for any and all the help!

I'm going back to college after a 2 year hiatus. A little background info- I want to be a doctor and I have photographic memory. I love biology and I'm excellent at remembering anatomy and chemistry info by the ton. My problem is math. I remember steps to sample equations perfectly but if the numbers change, I can't do the problem. Math has always been my nemesis and I know I have to take calculus as part of my pre-med program. First, I have to take prerequistics at community college for a semester. I know I need a tune up math class, or I'll never pass calculus. I took a test and I can either take adv. trig or pre-calc. I was okay at trig. in high school, but that was 5 years ago! And, I have never taken pre-calc. Which class is going to help me more?

We were in the Okaloosa Island, (Fort Walton/Destin area), walking along the beach, it had washed up and was flipped over on it's back. It was about the size of a salad plate, brown in color and the helmet had a lip around it. We were careful, and flipped it back over and it attempted to swim away, but a wave flipped over again...I'm not sure, but it seemed a little sick? The beaches were beautiful and the water clear as a bell...I spent more time in the water this time than I ever have before.
