The Snowshoe Hare, regularly feeds on carrion, and will eat any rotting meat they come across, especially in the winter. When I lived at a hunting camp we used to see them raiding the bear baits, and aftermuch research I found that this was common behaviour. Nobody ever believes me though because everyone is stuck on the idea that hares are strictly herbivores....
