While in 1989, we had a record temp of 66 degrees. Both temps were on July 22. Are we really global warming, or do we just want something to talk about!

66F was the low of course. But that means that the high that day was also low.

We broke a record high temp in April of this year also. However, the very highest record April temp in our area (over 100F) was set in 1920. How do you explain this?

Global warming is a figment of the imagination. No one knows for sure how old the earth is and has no idea what temperature extremes were. They are saying the earth has warmed 1 degree in 5 milion years. How could they possible know that? Did they find records made by cavemen or something? I don't think so. I actually believe that the earth is warming on it's own and there is nothing that can be done to stop it or slow it down. But, at 1 degree every 5 million years, we don't have to worry about roasting to death, now do we?

I just saw a documentary on this. The average temperature of the earth is rising faster than at anytime in history. Ice core samples taken from the arctic contain a time capsule of atmospheric carbon dioxide (co2) that go back some 600,000 years. Carbon dioxide has a direct correlation with temperature--the more co2 the higher the temp. In the past 300 years, the co2 levels have risen at an unprecedented rate. It is no coincidence that the Insudtrial Revolution began about the same time--a period when humans began burning greater amounts of fossil fuels such as coal and oil--heavy co2 producers.

The record temperature what probably a record low. Global warming is guaged by an overall warming trend, not just one day in a specific place. However, I still think global warmng is just a thing the Earth is doing on it's own. I don't think Al Gore has any control over it.

Although not many people like it and have hard time believing, it is a reality that we can't run away from, any more. The worlds temperature is increasing. Although the temperatures that you are talking about a decline of around 40F can be due to several factors viz the weather ...the atmospheric pressure and a zillion other factors..but
Global warming is a TRUTH. Hope something is done before it gets too late :(

Global warming has been pretty well demonstrated; it's effects are very easily seen in polar and sub polar regions where winter is much less severe than in the past, and the behavior of animals have been effected.
However, just because the overall global temperature is inreasing, that does not mean that the temperature at any given spot on any given day will be higher than at any time in the past.

Was 66 degrees the high or low?
If the earth is getting warmer, it is most likely due to a natural cycle--the earth goes through warming and cooling phases.
Unfortunately, many people with an agenda (such as Al "Alarmist" Gore, attempt to fault man with causing the earth's apparent temperature increase.

You should look closer and notice that the 66 was a record low.
And it's not an excuse to start talking about global warming. In fact, I don't think many people would care about this.

global warming dosnet limit the earth to stictly heat there are other things that affect it also, the thing about global warming is that it is so complex that it cant be expalined to anyone b/c there are so many different factors and missing information that no one even knows exactly what is going to happen and when but we do know tis is a proven fact that the atmosphere is getting thinner therefor not blocking as many sun rays

I think that if you look at the trends in the global temperatures not isolated areas, the general trend is that of warming. the earth goes through cycles and we are foolish to think that it will remain static. What is worrisome is the affects of these changes upon humanity. Earth will survive, but humans may find themselves in a heap of trouble.
