Yes, especially if it's potted inside of a house, in a woods with a bunch of others, or very young. Yes, in those cases I would.

If you meant to say a giant tree in the middle of a barren field, I'd think about it a little more...what are the chances really that that specific tree will be struck. It's seems difficult to get struck by lightning...

...but do you know how many McDonald's meals I could have with that sort of money?!

no!

it is totally not worth it! A million dollars is NOT a lot. you may as well hug a metal pole for a hundred.

think about it - if you die, you'll never get to see the million anyways, and you are remembered as the dimwit who actually CHOSE to do that.

if you survive, you'll either get hurt or seriously injured. and paying the massive bill that'll take to fix you up will use most of it, if not all or even more. and if you don't get hurt perhaps traumatized. and if nothing you'll still be thought of as an idiot.

so, my answer is definitely no.

if it meant that there would be complete world peace, everybody loved each other, the earth was completely balanced and pure, then yes.

Of course, the chances of lightning hitting a tree are minuscule. Even if it did get struck, the chlorophyll is not very flammable and the fire would burn out quickly. Also, just think what $1,000,000 bucks would do, and getting it so easily! :P. I would start up an oil enterprise or something.

Yes, because the odds would be in my favor that the particular tree I was hugging would not be struck by lightening. I would have to have the money up front , just in case....then my kids would be able to have the money and they would know I did it for them and I wasn't just a complete idiot!

I'd do it as long as I could hold the $1,000,000 WHILE i hugged the tree. If I lose, we both lose. Sorry buddy... better luck next time... see you in the funnies.
